During his visit, Lammy will attend high-level meetings with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath.

Lammy will also sign an agreement on the Charter for the Global Campaign on Children’s Care during this visit.

He will subsequently participate in the Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform event to be held at the United Nations office in Colombo.

The Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform calls on world leaders to uphold UN conventions on children’s rights and the rights of persons with disabilities, invest in families, children, and inclusive services, and eliminate violence and harmful practices such as orphanage tourism.

The UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy is expected to depart the island on Tuesday evening of the same day after completing his engagements.
