New high interest fixed deposit scheme for seniors begins
From today (1) to 31 December, 2025, citizens aged 60 and above can earn an extra 3% interest on fixed deposits up to Rs. 1 million under a new Ministry of Finance scheme.
Backed by a Rs. 15 billion budget, the initiative aims to boost financial security for seniors.
Eligible individuals can apply at licensed banks with their National Identity Card (NIC)
