CMC to hold inaugural sitting

The newly elected Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) will convene its first meeting on 16 June, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Hall, following the 6 May LG election.
The session will include the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
With no clear majority, both National People’s Power (NPP) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) claim to have secured support to elect the Mayor.
Inaugural sittings for 20 other local bodies will also be held in June.
