Hundreds of furious anti-ULEZ motorists take the fight to Sadiq Khan in new London protest

Hundreds of motorists and Londoners have launched a protest following Sadiq Khan’s decision to extend the capital’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
The activists were seen gathered around Trafalgar Square this afternoon equipped with signs protesting the London Mayor’s controversial move, which is widely seen to have lost Labour Boris Johnson’s former seat in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
Their signs dubbed the mayor a “liar”, and have previously made appearances in the capital, including outside the Royal Courts of Justice in late July, when ULEZ plans were ruled to be lawful.
The furious anti-ULEZ protesters were seen calling for the mayor’s resignation, with opposition to the policy having exploded in recent weeks.
Mr Khan refused to water down plans to expand the green tax – which will force Londoners to pay £12.50 when entering allotted zones – in an announcement last week.
City residents must pay the sum if their cars don’t met set environmental standards, and the mayor has created a £2,000 grant for those whose vehicles require modifications to meet them.
Protesters lined the street blowing whistles as cars whizzed through Whitehall, chanting “shame on Labour” and “shame on Khan”.
Alan Miller, the founder of the Together Declaration, which campaigns against ULEZ, told Express.co.uk: “The vast majority that responded to ULEZ consultation told Sadiq Khan they did not want it.
“He ignored them, bought ANPR cameras prior to consultation, has made up nonsense about deaths due to ULEZ and is contemptuous of the public.
“This is not over – these are the new dividing lines in London, the surrounding counties and across the UK where such measures are being imposed on residents and businesses undemocratically. Get involved Together.”
