Dramatic footage shows torrents of muddy water tearing through buildings and roads. Several people are feared trapped under debris, while an ancient temple has reportedly been damaged. The surge has blocked the Bhagirathi river, creating an artificial lake and raising fears of downstream flooding. Rescue teams, including army personnel, are at the scene. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered condolences and assured all possible help.
